Stacie Galeano

Introducing Stacie Galeano, Fashions on the Field icon and winner of major events both on local and national stage, to talk all things racing fashion.

1. How did you get started in Fashions on the Field?
I have ridden horses since the age of 2 and I have attended race days since I was very young with my family owning racehorses. I would always watch and idolise the beautiful ladies in Fashion on the Field but it wasn’t until my 18th birthday my mum gifted me a local designer dress and millinery piece where I entered my first Fashion on the Field at Cairns Cup and placed runner-up. The obsession started!

2. What inspires your outfits?
I am inspired by beautiful fabrics, mainly European designer textiles which is the foundation of my outfits.

3. What are your 3 favourite Cairns Central brands?
Myer (Seed, Sass & Bide, Country Road)

4. What are your favourite brands to work with?
My local dressmaker Pauline Fenech brings my designs to life. I have worked with Jill Humphris over the years for my Millinery looks as well as local milliners including Bernice Patton and Debbie Fry. Brand accessories I love include Myer, Cult Gaia, Kurt Geiger and Christie Nicolaides.

5. Who is your racing fashion role model?
I don’t have a Fashion on Field role model as such however I do gain inspiration from a few different fashion icons including Kate Waterhouse, Blair Eadie and other European fashion brands.

6. What’s your advice to someone wanting to enter Fashions on the Field?
Enjoy the creative process, wear what you love and don’t feel you have to follow ‘trends’ and invest in quality millinery.
